Life Right Now

Monday, July 17, 2017

Life right now is...

Nights in the yard after the sun starts to set and the temperature is bearable
Wearing my hair in a bun everyday
Not putting pressure on myself to be anything other than what I am
Watching my garden grow
A beer after work
Reading lots of books
Trying new things like cooking and crafting
"No Moose" being my most used words
Transition
Perfecting my ice cream cones at work
Too many episodes of Friends
Learning to be intentional
Early mornings with Eric because of our work schedules
Being alone but not lonely
Wearing no makeup and still feeling at home in my body

Moose is trying to figure out this whole fetch thing by watching his sister

I'm very proud of my little garden

I did not think he could be any cuter, then he started chewing on a stick

yes, I do wear socks with my Adidas

This girl has won my heart forever

The Forth Weekend in Charleston

Tuesday, July 11, 2017

I am FINALLY getting around to sharing pictures from the weekend of the Forth (or if I'm being honest posting at all.) My parents recently moved and July Forth was the first time the whole family was able to come down (yay for Colby and Abbey coming down.) Each morning Kyle, Criston, Eric, and I took our dogs to the beach while they are allowed to be off there leashes. We spent our first day there riding around in the boat, sight seeing and exploring. We went to dinner that night which was subpar and over priced, but we did see dolphins and any dinner with the whole family is priceless in my books. The next day we went downtown for me, my mom, and sisters to do some (or a lot) of shopping. Our shopping trip featured frośes next to a really pretty rooftop balcony because it was too freaking hot to actually sit on the balcony. That night the guys sat on the balcony at my parents apartment while the women played Cards Against Humanity. If ever want to get to know your mom and sisters too well played an all women's game of Cards Against Humanity. Eric and I had plans to go watch the sunrise at the beach on the day of the Forth, but decided 5:30 was just too early to be up, maybe next time. Unfortunately all my siblings had to leave on the morning of the Forth, so it was just Eric, my parents, and I for the rest of the trip. We spent a couple of hours on the beach, where I learned my boyfriend is actually a fish, but I love him all the more for it. Seriously through he more time in the water playing than he did on the actual beach, he even got my out there jumping under waves. It makes me so happy to know that our (future) children will never have to ask their dad twice to play in the ocean with them and in all honesty he will probably be having more fun than them. After we left the beach we decided to go in search of Mexican food for dinner (very patriotic, right?) The restaurant that was our first choice to be closed for the day, which turned out to be the best thing ever Cards Against Humanity. we ended eating a block away from fireworks and had the most amazing view of them right after we finished eating.

Watching the dolphins swim here is so freaking cool!

Currently…

Enjoying - SUMMER!!! I have been so happy to not be in school. I have been devoting my time this summer to personal growth. One thing that has been a focus for me is slowing down. I have no need to rush.

Wearing - Overalls. All day, everyday. Literally they are my favorite thing ever.

Needing - Nothing

Wanting - A new lens for my camera. I have been dreaming about the

Canon EF-S 17-85mm for months now. And donuts, but I always want donuts.

Listening - More audiobooks and even more audiobooks. The last three i have listened to are The Little Book of Hygge, Tiny Beautiful Things, and The Year of Living Danishly. Tiny Beautiful Things in my top five favorite books ever. I loved it so much I bought a physical copy and well as the audiobook. One thing I have noticed about myself is I like to listen to non-fiction books and read fiction books. Whenever I listen to fiction I have a hard time staying focused on the book and the same with reading non-fiction.

Reading - Moon Divas Guidebook - Spirited Self-Care for Women in Transition. I have just started this book but so far I am loving it. If my life were to be summed up in one word right now it would be transition so I could not have found this book at a better time.

Trying - To live more green!

Obsessed - So many things!
  • Redecorating my apartment
  • Maci and Moody (like always)
  • Hygge (Post on this coming soon!)
  • My garden
  • My Milk and Honey essential oil
  • Pink lace up flats from Old Navy and all other things dusty pink
  • Stephen King

Lake Norman

Tuesday, May 30, 2017

It would be impossible to count all the amazing memories I have at Lake Norman. Camping trips. Jumping in the cold water for the first time after Winter. Playing games around a camp fire. Watching Maci swimming for the first time. Stargazing in the middle of the lake.  Listening to stories about when my dad was in college. Getting so sunburnt I couldn't even sit down. Breathe taking sunsets. Although I'm still in the process of wrapping my head around the fact this was our last family trip to Lake Norman I am eternally grateful for all the memories I have. And to top it off this last trip was amazing. Eric and I got a late start to the weekend (thanks work), but we had a great time once we got there. We spent our time laughing with family and eating way too much food. When Maci wasn't playing fetch or carrying a stick around, she was standing in the water chomping at the waves trying to catch them (see picture below). Eric and I got our butts kicked of foosball by my brother's best friends. We took our last boat ride down the river. When we were at the furthest point of the river our boat can go Kyle and I told Eric there were lots of snakes in the water and then proceed to push him in. I don't think ever seen Eric move as fast as he did getting back in the boat, he didn't even use the latter. Thanks for another weekend filled with memories Lake Norman! You will always hold a special place in my heart.

My very best friend

Eric was terrified of the Jet Ski at first

This may actually be my favorite picture ever, because it has my two favorite humans in it (yes Maci is a human)

Who knew Papa Bill could take such a good picture
